ORADOUR sur GLANE ...

On June 10th 1944, a Waffen SS unit of the " Das Reich " division surrounded Oradour-sur-Glane village. 642 men, women and children have been slaughtered with weapons and fire.

In memory of the drama, Oradour-on-Glane, the martyred village, has been preserved as it stood since 1944.

To understand the reasons for this, the "centre de la mémoire" relates the events that led to this cruel act : 20 years of history to set the drama in its historical context, from the rise of Nazism in Germany to the defendants trial.
